A.M.P Airport Taxi Transfers

We recently received a call from a customer who requested an airport taxi transfer from London Heathrow terminal 5 back to Leicester. Thankfully following the news that restrictions are being slowly lifted we look forward to reintroducing airport taxi transfers from Leicestershire to London Heathrow.

As you can imagine, we were excited to be getting back into the swing of things following the terrible year we have all experienced due to Covid.

We knew the flight was due to land at 09.30 so we set off at 07.30 to allow plenty of time to get there and avoid any potential delays. We know London Heathrow airport like the back of our hands and by now could get there blind folded, but something felt different. We had been out of action for some time during the pandemic and this was a good chance to familiarise ourselves with the route and collection procedures again, especially if they had changed following the pandemic. 

When we arrived we were in plenty of time. We parked up and kept an eye on the arrival times. Great, the plane was on time and due to land soon. We sat and waited until nearer the time and then moved closer to the designated collection point.

Our plane had arrived on time but we were still seeing notifications that the arrival gate was still closed. This happens occasionally and we weren't concerned at this moment in time. We were prepared and made our way inside to meet and greet our passengers. We were informed that there were long delays due to the current situation and it was taking longer than expected for passengers to be seen and allowed through the gate as they all had to be checked and escorted to nearby isolation hotels if required. What a nightmare! Our passengers were flying in from India which was not a code red country at this moment but the delays were impacting on them as well which could not be helped.

Eventually our passengers emerged from the arrival gate, four hours later! Unfortunately we had to pass on the additional car parking and collection charge as we weren't to blame for the unfortunate delay. We greeted the weary looking travellers and escorted them to our executive airport taxi transfer vehicles. Due to the number of passengers and amount of luggage we needed three cars, one was just for the additional large suitcases.

We made it back to Leicester from London Heathrow in good time and the passengers were very grateful to the free complimentary water we provided them with.
